Dooms Day Rumors- May 21, 2011

The world has been surrounded with the "May 21, 2011 Judgment Day". This is a prediction of an American Christian radio broadcaster and president of Family Radio,  Mr. Harold Camping. He predicted that the rapture will start today May 21, 2011 at 6:00 P.M. in which the Christmas island in  Kiribati, Kiritimati Island, will be the first one to experience the said doomsday with an earthquake. If it is 6:00 P.M. in Kiribati (Kiritimati Island), it is 4 hours ahead of Australia's current time, China is behind 6 hours from Kiribati's current time, 10 hours ahead  of Russia and,18 hours ahead of  Big Apple's current time. Hence If the other side of the globe is on the day of judgment will it be true that the remaining side of it can still have extra hours to prepare for the judgment?

Camping and his followers on Family Radio started to air this rumor about the end of days. Infact, they have been around the world to spread and warn the people. They placed billboards around major cities of each country, made different ways of warning the people and made some noises to broadcast this important news to the entire world. The group actually had a pamphlet distributed around the world to explain the "facts" about this world ending which is today May 21, 2011. For them their theories resulted to two numerological proofs: first is based on Genesis 7:4, when God said to Noah: "Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made." It is said that "with God, one day is a thousand years equivalent on earth". So when God referred to seven days, he also meant seven thousand years. Camping studied that the flood during Noah's day occurred in 4,990 B.C. They made some calculations from the day of flood seven thousand years later came out to be the year 2011; second proof was a difference of number of days from the day of crucifixion until the said Camping's ending times predictions May 21, 2011. It resulted to 722,500 days difference between these two dates.722,500 is a significant number because it is composed of the significant numbers 5x10x17x5x10x17. Five signifies redemption; ten signifies completion; and 17 signifies heaven. The numbers represent the day of redemption (5) and the end of the Christian era (10) and the ascent to heaven (17) and it is doubled for added significance.

If these two points will be carried out intelligently, there are points that this group should explain: first what was their basis of those significant days they're referring to and, second what is this "added significance" all about?

According to Christian teachings, the scripture clearly says that " no eyes has seen, no ears has heard...." Neither an angel nor a man knows His second coming for He is the only one who knows when it will happen.

However, this rumor can create panic for some, but if this is dealt positively this will establish warning for everyone and a time for further recollection. This will only tell everyone to be watchful every single day.

Willie is Back this time with "Wil Time Big Time"

For more than a month since Willie Revillame got off-air on his previous show Willing-Willie, finally the controversial host is back this time on a new program Wil Time Big Time. The new program has set a new face of Philippine variety show because it has the most high technology stage set-up as first seen not just in his own country but first in Asian Television.

Event though Willie has not been seen on TV for a month, it was still a long time for all of his fans, considering that he is really the "hope" of the unfortunate people living in the Philippines. Willie has changed the viewing habits of most Filipinos specially on evening tv programs but, when he decided to go off-air because of the unfair points-of-view of some, especially his detractors, personally I felt that the evening TV program of most of the channels became boring. That was the time that I truly felt the saying "when boredom strikes". I kept waiting for the come back of his show because I really missed all of the games that was being played on his previous show like: 1-2-3 GO, FAMILY APIR, and THE WILTIME BIGTIME.

This time Willie is back, together with his co-host Shalani, Sugar, Baby Bisaya and Aimee, and all the staff of his previous show. With his comeback, it was also the comeback of what we called "hopes" of the unfortunate, that they believe he is the only one true Philanthropist, the modern good Samaritan, the Oprah of the Philippines, and the new Pres. Magsaysay of many Filipinos.

He was involved in a lot of controversies since "Wowowee" days, but he is still there ready to stand because many believes in him that he has a great heart for all masses that needs help. Willie is indeed love by many, he is not just been understood by some but definitely he is love by everyone.

Congratulations to Willie and to his staff and to his new show "Wil Time Big Time".

Shocking Elimination of James Durbin on American Idol

Last Wednesday the top 4 finalists on AI rendered two songs for the two rounds of their performances. James performed “Don’t Stop Believin” and Leiber/Stoller’s "Love Potion #9". Steven Styler who is a great rocker and performer applauded James with his two performances saying that the latter is simply incredible. J-Lo on the other hand admittedly that she was wronged of her perspective towards James, because he proved to her that he can sing any song. Randy Jackson who has been on the show judging for 10 years, believe that the singer is surprising everyone with his performances every single week and he even noted that James was there to win it.

Surprisingly, out of  72 million votes, the total performer was sent home. This was a big shocking result, considering that James has not been in the bottom three ever since until Thursday night show. James is indeed a great singer and a total performer on the show. As James was upset of his departure on AI, so as Jennifer Lopez who was in tears to hear from Ryan, host of the said show, the bad news. Moreover, James is not alone with this frustration because a lot of Americans and other nationalities who are fan of the rocker James Durbin, outnumbering that 72 million votes, are in deep frustration.

"I worked so damn hard and I was hoping to get there," Durbin said while tears rolled down his cheeks. "But I did so much stuff that's never been done on the show. I did what I came here to do, and that was to give metal a chance."

If James has not been voted-off, he could have shown more of his talent. He really rocks the stage as he performed every week. He is a total performer to be reckoned with. His journey on the 10th season of American Idol has given the metallic music a chance once again, and because of him the love on Rock n' Roll music has been reborn. Surely, his music, voice and his great performances will be missed by a lot of fan on American Idol stage, but he will be applauded again by many on a bigger stage of America's music industry. No doubt, he can be a new big star, waited by everyone.

Pacquiao-Mosley Fight, An Over-all Frustration

I just want to share the article that was published by Yahoo about the recent fight of Pacquiao vs. Mosley in Las Vegas. I completely agree with what the writer puts on his article that the fight was indeed a frustration and was a waste of time to watch because Mosley didn't give a genuine fight but instead compete for the sake of earning, because from the start he knew that he will not win the fight at all.

Here is the article from Yahoo.

The fans at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas poured boos down on the ring, expressing a sentiment shared by many pay-per-view customers. Sugar Shane Mosley was running from Manny Pacquiao, making consumer disappointment and anger understandable

So too was this emotion: sadness.

Saturday was another wasted night of Pacquiao’s prime, the competitive circumstances and raw politics of boxing robbing what could’ve been a night of greatness tested.

Instead, we got another lopsided decision, Pacquiao winning as an overwhelming favorite against a 39-year-old opponent who had no intention of actually fighting. Mosley was once a great champion and remains a likable ambassador for the sport. He never stood a chance against Manny, though. That was something promoter Bob Arum acknowledged at the outset, only to realize he was so out of opponents for the Filipino that he had to make the fight anyway.

Mosley was the second of Pacquiao’s last three opponents to enter the ring and not even attempt to win. Fourteen months ago Joshua Clottey covered up for 12 rounds. Even after he was shut out on the scorecard, Clottey lifted his arms in triumph and posed for pictures with his team. The goal was to survive, not actually box.

Before you blame Clottey and Mosley, consider what happened to the last several guys who decided to stand and trade with Manny: Antonio Margarito, pummeled repeatedly, broken orbital bone, sent to hospital, career in jeopardy. Miguel Cotto, pummeled repeatedly, TKO’d, sent to hospital. Ricky Hatton, knocked out cold, sent to hospital, hasn’t fought since. Oscar De La Hoya, pummeled repeatedly, TKO’d, sent to hospital, hasn’t fought since. David Diaz, pummeled repeatedly, TKO’d, sent to hospital.

We could go on. Manny Pacquiao hasn’t lost a fight in six years.

And he probably isn’t losing one anytime soon, leaving fans stuck watching an iconic fighter dominate inferior opponents just for the sake of watching said icon.

Sadness isn’t a new feeling in boxing. It’s just usually reserved for those horrific nights when an aging champion is getting battered by the sport’s inevitable, and swift, circle of life. It’s sad to watch greatness gone. It’s sad to fear the damage done.

This is completely different – sadness born from frustration. It’s like watching Michael Jordan playing minor league basketball, cheating everyone from years of thrilling moments and memories on the basketball court.
Critics of boxing are always saying it needs charismatic headliners. Well, what then is Manny Pacquaio? He’s willing to fight exciting fights, test himself against bigger, stronger men. He smiles. He laughs. He’s smart. He has a real life as an elected politician. He sings on late-night talk shows and performs fan concerts after fights. There’s almost nothing like him in sports. And Saturday, Top Rank put on a great show around him, complete with a rare entertaining undercard featuring the return of ex-champ Kelly Pavlik and a dramatic 12th round, come-from-behind-TKO by Jorge Arce of Wilfredo Vazquez, Jr.

Then the main event bombed, the cold reality of the era ruining everything. Arum talked about a potential November fight between Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez, who earned a draw with Pacman in 2004 and lost a close decision in 2008. Those bouts took place in the featherweight or super featherweight divisions, however. That’s 20 pounds ago for Pacquiao, who fought at 147 on Saturday. Marquez is a warrior, but he struggled to get to 142 pounds when he was outclassed by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in 2009. It was Mayweather’s un-retirement fight and considered a somewhat safe one because Marquez was so small. If he’s too small for Floyd, then he’s of little threat to the 2011 version of Manny. Marquez would also become the fourth recent Pacquiao opponent first “softened up” by Mayweather, joining De La Hoya, Hatton and Mosley.

The obvious solution is to get Pacquiao and Mayweather in the ring together and stage the richest fight in history. Then do it again in a rematch. That seems less likely now than ever, though. Mayweather hasn’t fought anyone in over 13 months and spent Saturday night, he claims, watching a Lady Gaga concert on cable.
We should be in the middle of an epic trilogy between these two – their styles seemingly perfectly suited to challenge each other. It’s rare when the two best pound-for-pound fighters of a decade are essentially the same weight. Yet money, pride, politics, bad blood, allegations of doped blood, slander suits, domestic violence charges and all sorts of other nonsense stand in the way.

We’ve been through the Mayweather-Manny debate before. Right now, it isn’t getting solved. It may never.

So we get what we get and the crowd gets upset.

“What could I do if my opponent doesn’t want to fight toe-to-toe? It’s not my fault,” Pacquiao argued, and really no one was blaming him. “I’m happy, because I know I won the fight. But I said my first concern is the satisfaction of the people. I want the people to be satisfied with my performance and to leave happy.”
The Mosley fight should never have been made. Same with Clottey. And it’ll be the same with Marquez.
There is virtually no one left for Pacquiao to fight. He’ll still get big numbers at the gate and on pay per view because he’s such an attraction, such a talent, but it increasingly feels like a waste of time. He’s stuck in B-grade bouts. You can’t shine a sneaker.

Zab Judah is another option, but he’s lost to Clottey, Cotto and Mayweather. Timothy Bradley, the dynamic, unbeaten, 27-year-old Californian, is a potential long-term challenger to Pacquiao. Is he ready to step up as soon as November? He may have to be. For my money, it’s the most intriguing fight. At least Bradley is a fresh face. At least he has a future. At least, we presume, he’ll stand up and actually try to win.

These days with Pacquiao that’s all we can hope for; a sad indictment on a sport that is stalling when it should be soaring.

My Own Predictions on American Idol Season 10

American Idol season 10 is now nearing its final threat for the remaining 4 strongest contenders on knowing who will be the bet of America. As last week Jacob's goodbye (which I predicted based on his performance), AI has finally revealed the strongest of all toughest AI contestant.

I have been watching this season of AI since its kick-off, from the audition to Hollywood elimination and finally to live performances. Ever since the live performances begun, I have been applauding the performances of James Durbin, Scotty Mccreery, Lauren Alaina, and Haley Reinhart which turnout to be the remaining four contenders to the finale. Aside from them, though I am frustrated because of their early goodbyes from the contest, I like the vocal performances of Stefano Langone, Thia Megia, Pia Toscano, Paul McDonald, and Casey Abrams. Naima Adedapo, Karen Rodriguez and Ashton Jones were doing good indeed but not that great.

It is hard to really say who would make it this year's AI winner because the remaining contestants are all good singers, in fact all of them are totally great singers. I believe that this season has chosen the best contestants ever in the entire seasons of AI. As early as now, I really could say that the AI judges has done a wonderful job of choosing the best of the bests.

Haley Reinhart

James Durbin

Scotty Mccreery

Lauren Alaina
From the four contestants who were left to compete and making their way to the finale, I am voting for James Durbin  which I predict he could win this season. He hasn't been in the bottom three, he's been greatly performing week after week. Scotty could also be the winner, I can say that he has the votes of young ladies and young girls because of his look and appeal, no doubt he has a great voice which is very unique from the three. His soothing voice can be a close match to James in terms of votes. Lauren Alaina has not been in the bottom three until last week which made her in the bottom two. The reason why she was in the bottom two its because of her performance last week, she has the instance of pulling-back high notes which viewers noticed it from her. But, undoubtedly she has a great voice, all she needs to do is to surprise everyone and sing and hitting that high notes without pulling-back, in this way she might be winning the show. Haley from the start has been in the bottom three but then she get to improve and getting stronger week after week which made her to stay with the other three contestants. I love her performances last week, especially her singing of "Rising Sun", she really indeed nailed it. Last week performances I have my own ranking, she actually rank second from James. She might be a big threat and a big surprise to win the show.

Now that AI has the final four, I am getting more excited who will really take the title of American Idol winner. They are all damn good and great singers. Let's cross our fingers until the finale.

Flaws on Captain Barbell TV Series

This is the new tv series of GMA 7, aired nightly from Mondays- Fridays after the news program "24 Oras". It is starred by Richard Guttierez for the second time on the same network, and originally played by Edu Manzano and followed by a remake in a movie with Bong Revilla.

I actually watch the evening tv program of each network, but this evening it just happened that my attention was caught by this fantaserye "Captain Barbell", not because I was excited to follow and watch this tv series and definitely not because of the story at all, for the main reason which I think it is no longer exciting on my part to watch this. However, as I was watching this fantaserye, I was able to observed a lot of flaws that have made the show so boring and not realistic at all. What I was talking about is the episode wherein Captain Barbell is in a fight scene against his enemies. I can't name who were the characters because I am not into it when I was watching but I was more into looking some flaws of this fantaserye for it is really obvious.

During the fight scene between Captain Barbell and his enemy at the location of a certain Rural Bank in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, Captain Barbell actually throw his enemy to the roof of the bank and apparently it shows that there was a blast after the immersing attack of Captain Barbell just to show the viewers that how strong this superhero is. As the scene is going on, the camera again was focused on the same building but this time there are no indications of the immersing blast. Did Captain Barbell do some renovation while fighting?Hmm I doubt.

Another observation is that, as the fight were so intense between this superhero and his enemies, you could obviously see that the people around them and even the place itself is not in anyway frightened as if there is at peace in the area, the people are apathetic, and it seems the surroundings has no care at all. You couldn't even see the emotion of a panic mode in the location. The news reporter even went to the site of intense fight scene, and trying to report with panic-perky feeling, but the odd thing here is that at the background of this reporter, people seems to be ok on a busy street.

The fight scene itself seems to be lame, luck of energy, lack of variety of physical contact, always using their not so convincing power. I just hope that the overall in-charge of this show would double check the editing so that it will look realistic so that viewers would have an additional urge and excitement to watch this.

To check what my observation is all about, you can actually watch the episode again of "Captain Barbell" by clicking the following link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPEq7dZdqm4 or at http://wowhaneptv.com/2011/gma-7/captain-barbell-april-25-2011.

World leaders hail People Power anniversary

MANILA, Philippines - World leaders have praised Filipinos for the bloodless 1986 People Power revolution, which marked its 25th year yesterday, and which has been seen as inspiration for other peaceful pro-democracy revolts across the globe.

In separate statements, leaders of Germany, South Korea, the Czech Republic and Chile extended their congratulations to Filipinos for fighting to regain their freedom through peaceful means.

Chinese President Hu Jintao had also conveyed his warm wishes to the Philippines on the 25th anniversary of People Power when Vice President Jejomar Binay went to Beijing to seek a reprieve for three Filipinos on death row last week.

German President Christian Wulff said the EDSA People Power had been a beacon for Germans’ struggle to unite for peace and freedom. “Only a few months later, the Berlin Wall came down and we Germans were able to make our unified state a reality in peace and freedom,” Wulff said, adding that recent developments in the Arab world “demonstrate that people’s desire for freedom is universal and remains as strong as ever.”
Chilean President Sebastian PiƱera Echenique lauded the Filipinos for their solidarity in achieving democracy through peaceful means.

Czech foreign affairs minister Karel Schwarzenberg said the February 1986 revolution “meant a historical landmark on the road to democracy of your country and inspiration for many others.”

South Korean President Lee Myung-bak said the people power revolution of 1986 offered hope across Asia that true democracy could be realized despite hardships and adversity. “The revolution will continue to be remembered as an exemplary example for people around the world who crave freedom and democracy,” he added.

The EDSA revolution was said to have sparked similar uprisings across the world. A year after EDSA, South Koreans challenged strongman former general Chun Doo-hwa which eventually led to democratic reforms; Chile’s Augusto Pinochet lost his iron grip on power in 1989.

Poland’s own people power revolution inspired the Singing Revolutions in Estonia; Latvia and Lithuania in the Baltic States in 1989; as well as the East German democracy movement which ended in the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. The Velvet Revolution on Wenceslas Square contributed to the demise of one of the most powerful anti-democratic states in the world and returned democracy to the Czech Republic.

Many more nations followed including those in Eastern Europe, spreading to central Europe where democracy lifted the Iron Curtain and swept away the Soviet Union on the heels of glasnost.
“Even by just watching on TV, the emotion in Egypt and Tunisia was so palpable that it brought back memories of our own experience in 1986. While ours was less violent, the similarities between EDSA and Tahrir Square are uncanny,” Aquino said. “This shows that the human passion and thirst for freedom is so universal that no autocratic regime anywhere in the world could succeed in its attempt to stay in power forever,” Aquino said.

Tunisians have ousted their president Zine El Abidine Ben Ali from power after violent protests. In Egypt, long-time leader Hosni Mubarak was likewise thrown out through a popular street uprising. The regime of Libyan strongman Muammar Gadhafi is on the brink as thousands of Libyans took to the streets to demand his ouster, despite attacks from loyalist militiamen. Street protests are also strengthening the regimes in Bahrain and Yemen.

The assassination of Aquino’s father and namesake in August 1983 sparked massive street protests – almost on daily basis – that culminated in a military-backed civilian uprising in February 1986 that ended the Marcos dictatorship.
